Join Adi Benarroch, Jeweller and Creative Arts Therapist for this creative workshop, where you'll design and craft your very own piece of jewellery using jeweller’s wax and basic carving tools.
In this hands-on session, Adi will guide you through the fundamentals of jewellery design and making. You’ll begin with a block of jeweller’s wax and, using hand tools like saws, files, and carving instruments, shape your piece just like a sculptor. Once your design is complete, your wax model will be sent off to be cast into its sterling silver form through the Ancient Lost Wax process.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll receive personalised, hands-on guidance as you explore various wax carving techniques. We’ll also take a deep dive into the full lost wax casting process, providing insights into how your piece will be transformed into metal. The final wax models will be cast offsite, and each participant will receive their finished piece by post within two weeks of the workshop.
Whether you're creating a ring or pendant, the design possibilities are endless—bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore a new art medium. No prior experience is necessary, this workshop is perfect for beginners. You’ll leave with new skills and a deeper understanding of one of the most accessible jewellery-making techniques.
This 3-hour workshop will cover:
The different types of wax and their properties
Basic shaping techniques to create your own ring or pendant
Experimenting with textures and patterns
An introduction to the lost wax casting process
A detailed explanation of how to calculate your wax piece’s weight in sterling silver (up to a maximum of 20 grams of silver per design)
All materials are provided, and you'll enjoy a grazing platter and light refreshments throughout the session.
During the session, you'll also have the opportunity to determine your ring size. If you're planning to gift your finished piece, be sure to have the recipient’s ring size ready.
