SCALE
Group Exhibition
Lander—Se presents: 'SCALE' —an all-female showcase bringing together 8 Australian painters to examine our relationship with landscape through a unified lens of proportion. SCALE considers our place within Landscape; our shifting viewpoints, and the interplay between intimacy and vastness. Each artist has been invited to create two works—one large, one small—providing a structured framework that encourages both contrast and cohesion.

Exhibition Text
The concept of SCALE reflects on landscape—its forms, spirit and essence through layered yet refined perspectives. At the heart of SCALE lies a quiet symmetry: each artist is given scale parameters, creating two works: one large and one small, to frame their concepts but not limit their interpretations.
At its core, SCALE is an exploration of perspective—how we engage with landscape through shifts in dimension, proximity, mediums and vantage points. While the structured framework of SCALE unifies the exhibition, it also allows for distinct and personal reflections.
Through these paired works, artists navigate the push and pull of SCALE: expansiveness versus intimacy, monumentality versus detail, distance versus presence. This measured approach mirrors our own relationship with the environment, where shifts in scale shape our perception and experience of place.
On a broader level, SCALE contemplates the dimensions of our work—our place within the environment, our sense of closeness and distance, our presence within the wider art landscape. Each artist is invited to engage with the concept on their own terms, resulting in a collection of works that embody diverse yet interconnected interpretations of SCALE.
Beyond the canvas, SCALE extends into shared experience, inviting audiences to engage with landscape through a program of immersive creative workshops. Through acts of making, visitors can interact with the rural landscape of Red Hill and partake in shared creative experiences, fostering meaningful connections between artist and viewer, self and surroundings, observation and place.
