'Mellow yellow' — Sarah Austin

Artist Statement

Through my art practice my intention is to investigate the everyday, from both an internal and external perspective. Using ceramic, projection and language to explore these recurring themes within my work, I aim to offer a sense of parody and encourage the viewer to connect to those layers of the persona that most of us carry. Sarah is a Mornington Peninsula based artist and has an art practice spanning over 35 years. Working predominantly in ceramic as well as sound and projection. In 2017 Sarah completed a Master of Fine Art at RMIT

Theme: SCAPE

This work in utilising the vessel, this utilitarian form becomes my landscape, often reflective of being in amongst my gardens scape and bush environ. My anthropomorphic form becomes the human element representing the we and in how we live amongst our landscapes whether suburban or as these are suggesting in the garden and out amongst the bush environment so often familiar and reflective to living on the Mornington Peninsula.
