Artist Statement

Known for bold and unashamedly wild depictions of the landscape, Amy Wright is inspired by the untamed, often overlooked and abandoned landscapes, where nature is allowed to flourish unchecked, reclaiming its space from human interventions. Each canvas serves as a Wunderkammer, blending reality with imagination and myth; wild plants sprawl, landscapes soar with tiered forms, and horizon lines often fade into obscurity.

Theme: SCALE

"River Escarpment" captures the environment at a specific moment, immersing the viewer in the landscape and creating a sense of being part of it. "River Escarpment Crop" focuses on a closer view of the same scene, where the textures and patterns from the broader perspective are simplified and transformed into shape and colour.
